When I came across the above image on Pinterest, I immediately had to know more about this gorgeous home. I mean firstly, that pink couch is out of this world good & I am beyond jealous of it!
But I like how it is also the stand out piece of furniture in this otherwise neutral home. It truly allows the couch to be the main feature, like a work of art.

Dark wooden floors & a pale wash ceiling make the space feel light & airy. The home is also filled with an abundance of greenery, which looks fantastic against the neutral walls & works so well with that pink couch.

Wooden benchtops in the kitchen always give a rustic farmhouse feel, but this kitchen is also unfussy & simple which works in well with the rest of the home.

Those lights also make a a bit of a statement, dont you think? The unusual grouping & differing sizes work so well for this open area.

Rustic chic meets modern clean lines in this stunning bathroom. Who doesn't love a classic white subway tile with contrasting grout?

Of course there is more greenery to be found in the bathroom, as well as a sweet hunk of wood which doubles as a bath caddy. I can just imagine a relaxing night in that bath tub with a glass of bubbles & a good book!

This past weekend was a good 'un- from Saturday spent perusing the hardware stores, purchasing plants to fill the pots I seem to excessively accumulate & a little DIY to Sunday spent at The Gluten Free Show in Auckland! I ate to my hearts content (in all honesty I pushed well past content!) & loved every minute of it.

Hopefully yours was just as fab!

If you know me well, you know I am not a fan of brown. It doesn't matter what it is, brown as a colour just doesn't work for me (this even goes so far to include wood & leathers!) BUT when I saw these photos I was weirdly into them. It may be that insanely cool collection of cushions, the macrame wall hangings or the abundance of greenery, but whatever it is I'm loving it.

Sometimes something will just come along & inexplicably catch your eye! It feels really good to surprise yourself & realise your tastes are developing.

What a way to start the weekend! Hope yours is a goodie :)

With the winter months well & truly within sight, I am already dreaming of summer & warmer days. These stunning photos of a guest house in Sayulita, Mexico are the perfect escape from reality.

Starting off with a tequila, lime & orange, cos why not!?

Colourful cushions create an inviting space to chill out & enjoy the incredibly beautiful surroundings.

Rattan lampshades are the perfect complement against the saturated scenery.

Dream bedroom <3 Love love love the all white built-in bed & bedside tables which creates an unfussy, carefree environment. Those flower arrangements are also crazy good.

Some light reading in case you get bored of the scenery :P

Keen to runaway to Mexico & escape into these gorgeous images?
I'll see you there!

They say time flies when you're having fun, but honestly, where did this past month go!? I haven't managed to put a post together in just as long- time certainly seems to be creeping away from me the older I get!

This fruity wee cake was a creation I whipped up for my dearest mama's birthday back in April! It wasn't without a few technical hitches, but boy was it delicious.

These baby pineapples were the perfect cake topper & inspired the fruity look- lucky we had an abundance of feijoas & oranges to continue the theme throughout the day with drinks & nibbles.

It was a weirdly shady day & the photos turned out quite dark, so I do apologise for the terrible quality. All images taken by me, follow my instagram for more (I'm @alannahcate).

All this fruit & cake has me feeling a tad peckish- I'm off to hunt out some snacks. Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!
