DAY TRIP DIY // THE WEEKENDER

What a weekend! On Saturday I spent the day in Matakana/Omaha for the first time & I was so impressed with the area. The markets in Matakana were beyond amazing, full of the most delicious foods & Omaha showed off with cutting edge home designs & an amazing surf beach.

I spent Sunday creating these DIY arrows (those feather ends were much more challenging than I had                                   anticipated!!) & baking this raspberry & white choc blondie. 

                                      All in all, I could not have asked for a better weekend!

WHITE OUT // INTERIOR

I have to admit that I am truly in love with painted white walls & floorboards. They make any space feel so much larger & allow the surrounding colours & patterns to really stand out, which I just love.

This beautiful Scandinavian home instantly caught my eye, with its clever composition of pinks greens, oranges & blues against a background of white.

Mixing patterns is effortless in this home, from a patterned couch, chair & cushions, the eye isn't overwhelmed because of all the calming surrounding white. 

Even plates & platters aren't safe from a colour explosion!

Cute wee eating nook thoughtfully situated right beside the heater. I can just imagine cosy dinners enjoyed here!

Even the decking has been painted all white! I can only imagine how difficult it must be to keep this clean, but I definitely think it would all be worth it.

FIG ME UP // YUM

The first time I came across a fig, I was unconvinced that this unusual looking, mushy fruit would be my cup of tea, so declined to try. After working in the bulk foods department of the local supermarket whilst I was in high school, the (dried) figs continued to hold little appeal to me. It wasn't until I came across them at a cute wee food market, where a kindly man insisted I give the humble fig a second chance that I realised just how wrong I was! I am now an avid fig fan & when I came across these delicious images on Pinterest, I knew this was something I needed to try.

FLORALS GALORE // THE WEEKENDER

My weekend was spent visiting a friend in Auckland, where we checked out Urbis Design Day for the first time. I have always wanted to go & when I received a text from my friend saying would I be interested, I jumped at the chance. It was a day full of treats, for the eyes & the belly!

How good is that macaron meadow up there on the left? I was in complete heaven. Best idea

CANDY HOME // INTERIORS

Mid-century design is always something I have admired & loved, but never really thought it fit in with my personal aesthetic. Well that's what I thought anyway. Until I came across this home tour over on Design Sponge the other day. 

This home is a beautiful combination of warm wood, lush greenery & rich textures which also features lots of pink & orange & brass.

Owning a hanging chair has always been a bit of a fantasy for me! I love the sheepskin & morrocan cushion combo- this is the ideal spot to curl up with a good book & a cup of tea.

The best arrangement of pots around.

I have pinned the image above a couple of times as I just adore that chair so much. It looks beyond comfortable & that candy colour gets a big thumbs up from me. 

Mother-in-laws tongue really is one of my favourite indoor plants.

How freaking cool is that!?

I love love love this home & will be using it for design inspiration for years.

BONNIE & NEIL // LOVE

I have been in love with the Bonnie & Neil 'look' ever since the day I first came across their pink splatter table runner. It was one of those love at first sight moments, where I proceeded to stalk out their instagram & loved every bit of their fun & playful aesthetic, that is exotic & tropical & all things good.

I decided to just let the images speak for themselves, partly cos it's Tuesday & I am being lazy & most because the images are just such a delicious visual feast for the ideas, my dialogue would not be able to do it justice.

Bit of bedroom goodness here for your Wednesday! Love the crosses on the wall, that combo of cushions & that blanket is pretty freaking badass.

WHIMSY // INTERIORS

I think what really attracted me to the images of this lounge room was the successful use of pattern. When I think about mixing patterns I tend to feel overwhelmed & am constantly nervous about pushing the mix-and-match effect too far. But the way the way the way this lounge has been designed, creates texture with the different sizes of each of the patterns. 

That cherry blossom arrangement could not be more at home anywhere else- it adds a whimsy, exotic vibe to the space.

I love a collection of cut glass vases & jars, which you can see just a hint of in the top corner of this image.

Not the biggest fan of these dining room chairs, I think that the linen is perhaps too bland & take up too much space visually. Some beautiful curved wooden chairs would work with the space as a whole so much better. 

Ahhhh. That wallpaper is truly to die for. I love brush stroke designs so much & to see it in such a large scale is so good for my eyes.

Sheer curtains are a massive fave for me. They are just so romantic.

And who doesn't like a vignette that looks this good? Use of colour ion this space is just so beautiful. It is polished & professional with that touch of whimsy & romance.

ENJOY // THE WEEKENDER

Weekends always go much too fast don't they!? Before I know it they are always over & I am gearing up for another working week! 

It was a relatively uneventful weekend for me, but those tend to be the ones I enjoy best- where no plans turn into plans, reading a book turns into an all day affair & long breakfasts turn into lunches.

I hope that your weekend was just as enjoyable as mine!
